ABOUT US

Welcome to Volition Vocational. We are located in Penticton, BC, and serve clients in the Okanagan Valley and in British Columbia, Canada. It's our calling to serve people who experience challenges with functioning in daily life due to health conditions, disabilities, impairments, illnesses, and injuries.

We collaborate and partner with you to improve your functioning, remove or overcome barriers, accommodate limitations, and address your unmet needs and goals. During the process, we assist you on your journey of accessing, maintaining, or returning to career, occupational, and work activities. We provide tools that empower you to decide on and commit to taking action toward achieving your goals.

Evan Johnson is the founder and managing owner of Volition Vocational. He started the company because of his journey of lived experience with adapting to non-visible health conditions and the challenges with functioning in daily life to achieve vocational goals. He is an American Canadian with mixed European and Indigenous ancestry. He is a son and grandson of multiple generations of Veterans of the Armed Forces.

Evan is registered as a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP TSA), #1584, with the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals. He is a professional member, #13101, of the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada and the Canadian Assessment, Vocational Evaluation and Work Adjustment Society (CAVEWAS). He has over twenty years of combined experience in management, health, law, social, community, and government service occupations, including serving in the line of duty as a law enforcement ranger and emergency first responder.

Evan holds a Master of Public Administration (with emphasis in Behavioral Health & Community Psychology), Bachelor of Arts (with emphasis in Health & Social Sciences), and Diploma in Counselling Skills. His post-secondary counsellor education and training included 770-hours of counselling psychology courses, with over 200 hours of direct client contact and 40 hours of supervision. He is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC), #3363, with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada. As an international student, he studied in a graduate-level Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy program where he completed 375 hours of supervised clinical fieldwork.
