Glossary of Terms in Vocational Rehabilitation 

People explore vocational rehabilitation for a variety of reasons. Some may seek services to address personal or career issues, functional limitations, or to adapt to community, educational, or workplace environments.

 

Others may seek assistance with recovering from health, medical or psychological illnesses, injuries, and disabilities; or overcoming barriers to employment or school. They may wish to find and maintain a suitable career through training, education, and job placement. There may be a need for learning how to adjust to the physical, psychosocial, or vocational aspects of a disability.

 

Ultimately, most people are seeking support with achieving a career, occupational, or work goal. There could be uncertainty with how to go about accessing, maintaining, or returning to school or work to increase their independence and quality of life.
