Vocational & Counselling Assessment
3rd Step (Assessment Phase)
Service Description
An initial Vocational and Counselling Assessment builds a comprehensive picture of your potential and support needs. It involves a structured interview to identify your level of functioning in relation to preparation (for personal, career, or independent living goals), employment or school, and career decision-making. The information gathered will attempt to identify and understand your profile, needs, barriers or limitations, and overall functioning or employability. There may be recommendations for vocational exploration or counselling intervention activities and testing (in the area of self-reported abilities, skills, interests, work preferences, and values). Clients with multiple or complex health conditions and barriers may require a referral for specialized assessments with medical and psychosocial health care professionals or vocational evaluators with a particular expertise. This initial vocational and counselling assessment is a starting point for identifying your needs before creating a plan with goals and activities or interventions.
